Crews in Montesano are not quite done with repairs to Pioneer Avenue but the weather might not allow them to finish the work this season. Councilman Ian Cope said, “Unfortunately it probably will not be until the Spring.”
Cope said recently that after city crews completed needed work on infrastructure under the road the plan was to have a contractor pave it. He added, “The short story is they ran out of time. It’s weather-dependent work so what you see right now is unfortunately what it’s going to be during the Winter.”
Cope said the city could have gambled on good weather and continued. But if the pavement was torn up and the weather didn’t pan out the street would be gravel and mud instead of the patchwork of blacktop that residents will have to tolerate through the Winter.
Roglins Inc. plans to complete the contracted work in the Spring.
