Two vehicles burned in downtown Aberdeen yesterday afternoon, a single driver was transported to Community Hospital in Aberdeen with undisclosed injuries.

Battalion Chief Damon Lillybridge said the Aberdeen Fire Department was called to the report of a vehicle fire in the 300 block of Wishkah Street around 3:45 PM Thursday. A fire in the front of a van had spread to the rear-end of a parked car on the left side of Wishkah street.

Lillybridge said it appeared that a Westbound van had veered into the left lane abruptly, striking one vehicle that pulled off of the road. The van continued to veer left and struck a parked car where it stopped but the driver continued to apply the gas pedal and the tires spun until sparking a friction fire which he said spread to the parked car.

The response and investigation closed Wishkah street for about 45 minutes on Thursday evening. No other injuries were reported, the actions of the driver are under investigation.
