A 5-year-old child sustained minor injuries after being involved in two car wrecks last night. A source at the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office tells us that just before midnight Sunday, deputies were called to what was reported as a two-car collision in the 1900 block of the South Bank Road, South of Elma.

Responding deputies learned that a 26-year-old Oakville woman’s 1996 VW sedan had left the road and driven through a fence before coming to rest back on the road. The woman called a relative to help, but detectives say when the 63-year-old relative arrived he rear-ended the VW with his 2007 Ford F350 truck.

The woman’s 5-year-old son was in the vehicle during both collisions, he suffered a minor cut to his lip and was treated at the scene. The woman was arrested at the scene for investigation of driving under the influence.
