Trace and Jared share many interests. They are both members of Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and induction into the Order of the Arrow. They are members of the Pep Band and Marching Band of which both serve as Field Marshals, supporting the Drum Major.

April Students of the Month, Trace & Jared Erwin

Trace is most proud of his Eagle Scout project at Amazing Grace Church which “took over 150 hours to complete extensive landscape clearance and new plantings, installation of a handrail and 5 foot long raised bed”. In his Scout Troop he serves as Senior patrol leader, patrol leader, and field marshal.

Trace is a member of National Honor Society and is 10th in his class, earning a GPA of 3.98 GPA. He plans to attend Central Washington University’s aviation program to earn a professional pilot degree followed by enlistment in the military to learn how to fly military aircraft.

Jared is also a member of National Honor Society twice-weekly tutoring students in geometry. He has enjoyed playing on the Boys’ Tennis Team this year. As Student Leader at Outdoor School he taught 6th Graders about the environment at a week-long camp.

As a Boy Scout he is the Senior Patrol Leader of Aberdeen Troop 4005.  “My duty was to plan every meeting and make sure everybody was aware of the plans. I had to put in extra time before and after meetings to plan future weekly meetings and troop events, and to make sure they were successful, even though I had my own school work and social life to deal with.   However I put in the extra time and effort, to mold the younger scouts into mature and successful scouts just like other Scouts did for me.”

Jared is Valedictorian of the Class of 2019 with a 4.00 GPA. He would like to attend Embry Riddle Aeronautical University for a BA degree in Aerospace Engineering.

They are the sons of Mike and Carrie Erwin.

Each year, the Aberdeen Rotary Club honors Aberdeen High School Seniors through the Student of the Month recognition and scholarship program. One senior is recognized each month between October and May. In June, two of these eight students are then selected for either the $1000 “Blue” or $2000 “Gold” scholarship to the school of their choice.
