State Route 109 remains closed to through-traffic North of Hoquiam this morning after another mudslide. Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myer s said in a statement that another section of hillside partially came down near MP 2 on 109, which is just north of the SR109 Spur where an overnight slide shut down the road on January 7th (photo).
Myers said that further dirt and trees are caught in other trees above the highway, and the scene is not secure enough to allow for passing traffic overnight. The weather also limited city staff access to the hillside, Myers said they’d create a plan to address the slide in the daylight today.
The Southbound detour route is 109 to Powell Road. Powell Road to Ocean Beach Road and Ocean Beach Road to US 101, Northbound detour is the 109 Spur to 101, and then the previous in reverse. The State DOT planned to post detour signs.
