A Shelton woman was injured after another car drove into her while she was pumping gas yesterday, the driver of the other vehicle sped off and was later stopped in Olympia and arrested on Vehicular Assault as well as Hit and Run charges.
The Washington State Patrol tells KBKW it happened just after 4 Friday afternoon at the 76 Gas Station off of U.S. Route 101 about 5 miles South of Shelton. The 62 year old was pumping gas while two older family members waited inside their 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. A 29 year old Olympia man driving a 2006 Honda Pilot pulled into the gas station driving fast, struck both the woman and her car, backed up, then left the scene.
The woman was transported to Mason General Hospital in undisclosed condition. The elderly couple in the car were uninjured, but the Oldsmobile was damaged enough that it had to be towed from the scene. The other car was spotted in Olympia Friday evening which led to the man’s arrest. Trooper Salverson said drugs or alcohol were involved.
