Montesano Police are seeking tips and warning nearby schools after a woman reported someone tried to abduct her near the corner of Church and McBride Streets Wednesday night.

Chief Brett Vance said it was reported just after 8 PM Wednesday evening. A woman was walking North on Church Street when a man she described as possibly Hispanic got out of a blue-colored Chevy Avalanche and physically attempted to abduct her. The man pulled a handgun and pointed it at her stomach, telling her to get in the vehicle. There was a struggle and both fell to the ground.

The woman began screaming which apparently spooked the man and he jumped into the passenger side of the truck, slid over, and drove off. She ran to a nearby residence and then home.

Neighbors who were contacted for surveillance footage and information reported hearing the woman scream.

Detectives are reviewing video from surveillance systems throughout town. Anyone who may have relevant information or security camera footage from the area should call Montesano police at (360) 249-1031.

A press release this morning adds:

A Hispanic male in his mid 20’s to early 30’s attempted to abduct a 20-year-old female as she was walking in Montesano near Church and McBride streets last night. The male is described as 6 foot tall, with a thin build and short black hair.

The Montesano Police Department is looking for a 2002 to 2013 Blue Chevrolet Avalanche four door pickup with tinted rear windows and chrome or aluminum wheels. Persons with information should call 911 or Montesano Police Department 360-249-1031
