Students of the Human Services program at Grays Harbor College are hosting a scavenger hunt this weekend to raise money for the Bobbie Jo Mattice scholarship. Kids 12 and up, and families of all ages are invited, they’ll start at West End Playfield in Aberdeen near the Grocery Outlet at 11 am on Saturday. Check in time is at 10:30 am. Tickets are $5 and proceeds go toward the scholarship program for second-year students.

After working in area mills for most of her life, Bobbie Jo Mattice attended the Human Services program in 2010, two weeks from her graduation date, Bobbie Jo learned she had cancer, she passed away 2 weeks later. With enough credits earned, and her fellow students coming together to finish her last paper, Bobbie Jo’s diploma was presented to her children at the graduation ceremony.

The scavenger hunt fundraiser is only running from 11 am to 1 pm tomorrow so you might see some frantic-looking shoppers in downtown businesses and landmarks looking for clues that lead contestants to the next clue.
