A car on fire on the shoulder of State Route 8 in Grays Harbor yesterday blocked Westbound traffic. Grays Harbor Fire District #5 was dispatched to the vehicle fire with flames and smoke showing just 2.5 miles west of another incident on State Route 8 around 2 pm Tuesday. Mutual aid was requested from Elma and McCleary Fire Departments.

District #5 Chief Dan Prater said he found the vehicle fully involved when he arrived and ordered the highway shut down for safety. Prater said Elma crews knocked the fire down with District 5 assisting, while the McCleary crew blocked the roadway and provided backup.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
