The City of Westport and the University of Washington are inviting the public to participate in a community event as part of the Westport/South Beach Coastal Resilience project. A press release from the UW invites you to “Come to share your vision of a safer, stronger and more vibrant community. We want to hear what you like about your community as well as how you think it could improve now and in the future.”
Participants will learn about natural hazards in your area and work together to better prepare, adapt, and recover from natural hazards such as storms, coastal erosion, earthquakes or tsunamis.
The event will take place on November 17th, from 10am – 2pm at Ocosta Elementary School in the multipurpose room. Lunch will be provided and there will be a disaster preparedness raffle. Prizes will include flashlights, solar lamps, medical kits, NOAA radios and ShopNKart gift cards.
Come early for coffee and refreshments beginning at 9:30am. A vertical evacuation facility tour will be held after the event at 2pm.
