Aberdeen police are investigating a shooting incident over the weekend as a possible robbery. Lieutenant Kevin Darst said in a press release that at about 7:23 PM Sunday evening, they were called to the report of gunshots being fired near 2nd and D Streets.
Officers located a man inside a two-story residence who had been sprayed with mace, and numerous involved partiesas they began investigating.
Witnesses reported masked suspects had fled the residence and were last seen getting into a vehicle. Officers located cash, drug packaging materials, and other drug paraphernalia scattered about the yard and onto D Street. They found evidence that multiple shots were fired in the utility room of the home. Shell casings were located and a bullet was recovered from a neighbor’s home.
There were no reports of injury.
Multiple subjects had fled the scene prior to officers arriving. Two of the remaining witnesses reported that a female had pointed a firearm at them before leaving. She has since been identified and is being sought as a suspect.
Darst said this does not appear to be a random act and was most likely attributed to illegal drug activity. Many of the people involved are not cooperating with the police at this time.
