Police are investigating the report of a gunshot fired near the base of the Chehalis River Bridge in South Aberdeen after a driver reported that someone shot at their vehicle Saturday night.

Dispatchers at E-911 received a call at 9:49 pm Saturday night from a driver who reported someone on foot had shot at their vehicle. The caller said they drove off and didn’t see in which direction the alleged shooter fled.

Officer Gary Sexton with the Aberdeen Police Department said that officers already in the area at the time responded to the scene within minutes but were unable to locate a suspect.

Officers are reviewing security camera footage from nearby, and are investigating the report as a shot-fired incident. But none of the officers who were in the area heard the reported gunshot, responding officers also noted fireworks were being lit in the area.

Some people posted to a Facebook group that they also heard the gunshot. Police would like to hear from anyone who may be able to help them triangulate the noise. Call the Aberdeen Police Department at (360) 533-3180.
