A tree in the road was reported just before 9 pm on Thursday. The Washington State Patrol reports the 30-year-old Ocean Shores man was directing traffic around the fallen tree near Breckenridge Drive. A 56-year-old Ocean Shores woman driving a 2008 Honda HRV had stopped for the man flagging, but her SUV was struck from behind by a 2018 Ford Edge driven by a 61-year-old Ocean Shores woman.

The impact pushed the vehicle into the pedestrian who was transported by aid to Community Hospital in Aberdeen with undisclosed injuries. No other injuries were reported, Trooper Franzmann said the driver of the Ford Edge was cited for Speeding; Too Fast For Conditions.

The road was blocked or with alternating traffic for about 3 hours last night to accommodate the response and investigation.
