The new interim director of the Grays Harbor Civic Choir is Kari Hasbrouck, who replaces Pat Wilhelms, who resigned recently due to health issues. A voice and piano instructor for more than 25 years, Hasbrouck will be the interim director through Fall Quarter.

“We are very sad that health issues have caused Pat (Wilhelms) to resign, but we certainly understand and appreciate all that she has done for the Civic Choir in the past two years,” commented Jason Hoseney, GHC Vice President for Student Services. “We are looking forward to having Kari lead the Civic Choir.”

Weekly Civic Choir rehearsals begin next Tuesday, September 22 and the group’s first concert will be on Sunday afternoon, December 13, featuring traditional and classic holiday music. Tickets for this performance are already available, 360.538.4066.

Hasbrouck currently teaches Applied Voice, Piano and Jazz Piano as well as Beginning and Intermediate Piano Technique classes at Grays Harbor College. In the past, she has also taught Ear Training, Music Appreciation, Composition and Arranging. She has been accompanist for both GHC Jazz Choir and Grays Harbor Civic Choir for the past 4 years.

She has a BFA in Music Performance from Cornish College of the Arts and a Master’s Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. She is a member of the Grays Harbor Music Teachers Association, WSMTA and MTNA. She has been a member of many choirs over the years and was Director for Hoquiam High School and Middle School Choirs from 2006-2008 and Director of the Grays Harbor Youth Choir, 2008-2010.
