An autopsy was performed Wednesday on the body of Sarah Palmer. Grays Harbor County Coroner Lane Youmans said the cause and manner of her death are pending toxicology reports and further analysis.

Two Hoquiam Police officers on Monday were responding to a domestic violence call at a group home that works with sufferers of chronic mental health issues when their suspect, Palmer, became combative.

Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers said “The officers ended up wrestling with her, trying to get her under control. They wrestled with her all the way through a kitchen, all the way out and onto a back covered porch. They continued to wrestle with her, at one point one officer did use a taser in an attempt to subdue and to get her under control.”

With some members of the media quick to report on deaths while in police custody, Myers noted that some versions of the incident were not reported correctly. “They continued to struggle with her after the taser was used so it wasn’t, you know, the connotation I’m hearing on the media is that they used the taser and she died immediately and that’s not what happened.”

Paramedics treated the female at the scene before she was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Our original story can be found here,
