*Update – The Grays Harbor County Coroner has identified the man whose body was found inside of a building in Junction City early Sunday morning as 33-year-old David Alan Rhodes. Coroner Robert G. Kegel said an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death is scheduled for Thursday, 06/20/2019.
The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 33-year-old Aberdeen man over the weekend after a man was found running in the street sprayed with bear mace and later arrested on murder and drug charges.
Deputies were called to the 300 block of Hagara Street in Aberdeen just before 4 AM Sunday morning. Security guards from the Sierra Pacific mill called 911 after seeing a man running in the road yelling that he had been assaulted and sprayed with pepper-mace-like bear spray.
Deputies contacted the 25-year-old Aberdeen man who said he didn’t know who had sprayed him. He was transported to the hospital and treated. They spoke with another person who eventually told them a man had been shot and killed at the home of the bear mace victim. Deputies located the deceased at the residence and began the investigation.
A search warrant was granted and the 25-year-old was booked into the county jail for investigation of murder in the 2nd degree, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of methamphetamine and heroin with intent to deliver.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sergeant Darrin Wallace at 360-249-3711.
