A kitchen fire was quickly extinguished this morning in Aberdeen. Battalion Chief Dave Golding with the Aberdeen Fire Department said that at 10:21 Am on Wednesday, December 20, 2018 The Aberdeen Fire Department, with assistance from the Hoquiam Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 1800 block of Pacific Avenue in Aberdeen.
Upon arrival units found light smoke coming from the front door as well as flames from a window on the back side of the structure. Crews made an interior fire attack where they found a fire that was quickly contained and extinguished in the kitchen of the residence. The fire caused an estimated $35,000 damage to the structure and its contents.
The homeowner reported that he arrived at the house after leaving to find that the fire had started. He stated that he attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher but was unable to do so.
