No injuries were reported from a house fire on West 5th Street in Aberdeen early this morning. Fire Chief Tom Hubbard said at the scene, “Even before arriving, the on-duty Battalion Chief requested a second alarm with additional resources from Cosmopolis Fire and Fire District #2.”

Hubbard and I stood in front of stairs that appeared to go nowhere as he explained, “They arrived to find a well-involved fire in the front of the house. The front porch was completely involved and actually as they arrived the front porch collapsed on the front stairs.”

Hubbard said, “The front porch was completely involved and actually as they arrived the front porch collapsed on the front stairs.”

The fire was reported at 5:15 AM Wednesday morning, Hubbard said everyone evacuated safely, “They initially were transitional from the front and then had gone offensive from the backside and have confirmed that all the occupants from the house got out safely. And [crews] are currently in overhaul mode checking for hotspots and extension in the walls and up in the second floor and attic.”

Engines will be on the hill for a while this morning making sure the fire is completely down.
