The City of Montesano has chosen Arnel Blancas to fill the Chief Finance Officer role. The Montesano City Council unanimously confirmed his appointment on August 27th, he started employment on August 28. A press release from Mayor Vini Samuel on Friday said that ” I am excited to announce that Arnel Blancas has accepted the position of Montesano Chief Finance Officer/Clerk/Special Advisor to the Mayor.
Arnel’s family is from Grays Harbor and he is a current resident of Montesano with his wife and children. He is involved with the local community, coaching youth sports and as a math tutor for Montesano elementary schools. His wife is a teacher at Beacon Elementary.
His strong commitment to Montesano is matched by his financial expertise both in the public and private arenas. His immediate work history is as University of Washington’s Assistant Director of Strategy and Operations–handling in operations, contracts, and capacity building budgets. He worked in governmental budget analysis and management at different entities for the past 11 years.
Prior to that, Arnel worked in the private sector, including time as Executive Director of the Grays Harbor College Foundation.
He received his Associates at Grays Harbor College, his Bachelors at Western Washington University and his Master in Business Administration at Pacific Lutheran University.
