A Montesano man was arrested on stolen vehicle and fleeing charges after an attempt to outrun Cosmopolis Police on the blue slough road ended with spike strips on State Route 107 and a foot pursuit Friday night.

Cosmopolis Police posted to their Facebook page that it began just before midnight last Friday. An officer spotted a vehicle reported stolen from Aberdeen on US Highway 101.

The Cosmopolis officer attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle turned onto the Blue Slough Road and sped off. A pursuit was coordinated with Aberdeen, and Montesano Police, the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office, and the Washington State Patrol.

Deputies successfully deployed spike strips on State Route 107 approaching Montesano, and with two flat tires, the fleeing suspect vehicle rolled to a safe stop.

After a short foot chase, the 59-year-old Montesano man was taken into custody and booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail with charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding, and resisting arrest.
