Family and friends are gathering around a fallen local officer’s family after a tragic incident in Ocean Shores earlier this month. A memorial service for Phil High will take place on February 1st at Ocean Shores Convention Center beginning at 1 PM.

“On January 14th Phillip High of the Hoquiam Police Department lost his battle with PTSD and took his own life.” Said a statement on a gofundme account setup for the family by Deana Sanborn, adding that “Due to the nature of his death, his wife Molly is without any survivor benefits. Since Phil was the main income provider for the family, Molly and her son Adrian now need financial help with the upcoming funeral, mortgage, and bills.

The gofundme campaign collected over half of the $10,000 goal in the first day with 61 donors. Sanborn added that “The money will also be used for lodging for the family since they are unable to emotionally go back to the house Phil had died in. Any amount of money donated is greatly appreciated.

A memorial service has been scheduled for February 1st at Ocean Shores Convention Center beginning at 1 PM. There has also been a local fund started at Bank of the Pacific under the family’s name, we have removed the account number over privacy concerns.
