On Thursday, February 20, 2014, around 10:39 AM, a woman living in the 4600 block of SE Arcadia Road, called the Mason County Sheriff’s Office because she heard what sounded like two men in the woods behind her property, yelling at each other, and that she heard a man yell, “I’m gonna kill you”.
Deputies responded to the area and found a 50 year old white male in the back yard area in the 200 block of SE Channel Point Road of rural Mason County, about 6 miles east of Shelton.
The suspect was moving back and forth between trees and pointing an object at the Deputies. The Deputies ordered the man several times to drop what was in his hands, but he continued to point the object at the Deputies. One Deputy shot at the suspect, striking him in his hand, causing him to drop the object.
The suspect was transported to Mason General Hospital and was later transported to Harbor View Hospital in Seattle. Medical staff advised that the gunshot wound was not life threatening.
A multi-jurisdictional shooting team made up of Officers and Deputies from surrounding law enforcement agencies responded and are conducting the investigation.
Due to the on going investigation, no names are being released at this time.
