On September 25th, the Pacific County Drug Task Force in conjunction with the Long Beach Police Department culminated a month long investigation into the illicit sales of heroin in the Long Beach area. The investigation resulted in the arrest of 23 year old Benjamin Campbell.

Through investigative efforts and controlled purchases of Heroin from Campbell, the Pacific County Drug Task Force was able to develop probable cause to arrest Campbell and obtain a narcotics related search warrant for Campbell’s residence. The controlled purchases of Heroin from Campbell all occurred within 1000 feet of a school bus stop zone.

Campbell was arrested without incident by officers with the Long Beach Police Department during a related traffic stop. Drug Task Force members served the narcotics related search warrant upon Campbell’s residence located in the 1600 block of Oregon Street North. Assistance with the service of the warrant was provided by the Long Beach Police, the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

During the search of Campbell’s residence, officers located several articles of drug paraphernalia and packaging material consistent with the act of narcotics sales. Digital weight scales, small plastic baggies for packaging and several plastic baggies of a powdery substance believed to be a cutting agent were located in the residence. Officers located a small marijuana grow that was illegal in nature. Searching officers also located a loaded SKS assault style rifle and a loaded 20 gauge shotgun in the residence. Officers also seized almost 1,800.00 in cash from Campbell that he had in his pocket during the time of his arrest that they believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales. A small amount of suspected Heroin was also seized from Campbell’s person. Campbell was also carrying “brass knuckles” in his pocket that are considered a dangerous weapon.

Campbell was transported to the Pacific County Jail and booked on charges of three counts of Delivery of Heroin, Manufacturing Marijuana. Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Campbell is being held on 75,000.00 bail.
