A kayaker was rescued in Westport after getting thrown against the rocks of the South Jetty Saturday. U.S. Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor said their tower saw the kayak capsize near the South Jetty on Saturday. Responders were in the water as the distress call came in over the radio.

They recovered the mariner suffering from hypothermia, lacerations, and abdominal injuries from the waves repeatedly pushing him into the jetty rocks. The station said that the unidentified person was lucky, and prepared, with a life jacket and portable VHF radio to report the incident on Channel 16. The Coast Guard also thanked South Beach EMS for the prompt assistance.
