The Grays Harbor County Sheriff‘s Office is asking for the public’s help investigating recent thefts from storage units. On 03/14/14 at approximately 8:12 pm, deputies were dispatched to the Hilltop Storage Company at 2805 Olympic Highway reference a number of storage units that had been burglarized. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the manager and learned that the locking mechanism on three units had been damaged and entry most likely gained. The manager believed the burglaries occurred sometime during business hours. The renters of the three units had been contacted and were determining what exactly was missing. At this point, we do know that a washer and dryer, in addition to numerous tools had been stolen.

The following day, deputies responded to the Glenn Road Storage Units off of Glenn Road (Montesano) reference several units that had been burglarized. The owner of the storage unit first discovered that five of the units had different locks on them then what should have been on them. Only two of the units however were rented. Upon contacting the renters and cutting the locks off, they discovered several items missing from the two rented storage units. The other three units still had no items in them. Among the items taken were special aviation tools and equipment, in addition to aviation parts. The victims are working with investigators to determine specifically what was stolen. Again it was believed that the burglaries occurred during business hours. It was also believed that the suspect(s) placed the locks on the units to hide the crime.

Anyone with information on these storage unit burglaries is asked to contact the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Department at 360-249-3711, or the Grays Harbor Dispatch Center at 360-533-8765 if after hours. As always, feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.
