The Grays Harbor Coroner’s Office has released details on the human skull that was found in the crab pot off the coast at Westport on Feb. 21st, 2014. Grays Harbor County Coroner Lane Youmans said that a sample of the skull was sent to Beta Analytics in Miami, Florida for radiocarbon dating.

The lab analyzed the sample, and determined it to be approximately 2,300 years old, around 360 to 400 BC.

Youmans said the remains will be turned over to Dr. Guy Tasa, the Washington State Physical Anthropologist, so he can release them to the appropriate tribe.
