A Hoquiam man was cited on multiple charges after police say his vehicle hit a patch of water while attemping to pass in a no-passing zone. The Washington State Patrol report said that a 28-year-old Hoquiam man was driving a 2010 Dodge Caravan south on 101, after passing a vehicle near the West Fork Hoquiam River the van struck a patch of water, lost control, and rotated before being struck broadside by an oncoming 1995 Geo Prism in the northbound lane at milepost 95.
The wreck was reported just after 12:35 Thursday afternoon.
The driver of the oncoming vehicle, a 70-year-old Hoquiam man, transported himself to Community Hospital with undisclosed injuries. His 4-year-old passenger in the vehicle was not injured.
The driver of the van was not injured. He was cited for negligent driving in the 2nd degree, failure to provide proof of insurance, and driving with a suspended license.
