A Hoquiam man was arrested on outstanding warrants after his Jeep struck a child in a crosswalk near Emerson Elementary school last night. Sgt. Shane Krohn with the Hoquiam Police Department said police were called to Adams Street near the school at 8:45 PM Wednesday night. The child was crossing Adams in the crosswalk, dressed in all-black.
The 39-year-old Hoquiam man driving the Jeep told police that he had a green light but that he did not see the child. He was arrested on outstanding warrants for two counts of driving without a license, also cited for a third count, and booked into the Hoquiam Jail.
The child was treated at the scene and transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
