A Hoquiam man was arrested after witnesses reported he was shooting fireworks into traffic as part of his New Year’s celebration.
The Hoquiam Police Department posted to their Facebook page on Monday that officers were called to the 200 block of Emerson Avenue for a fireworks complaint that had turned into a fire.
They found a large fire at the end of a driveway, a man became agitated that his New Year’s Eve fun was being infringed upon and he began yelling obscenities at the officers.
As the Hoquiam Fire Department arrived, the man was told he was under arrest and began resisting. He was taken into custody on multiple charges including reckless burning, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
Numerous witnesses reported that some of the fireworks had hit passing vehicles.
