John Ham came to America more than 22 years ago from Seoul, South Korea with plenty of entrepreneurial ambition and the goal of achieving a successful career.

Ham has made the most of his opportunities as a gas station and convenience store operator for 20 years and continues to grow his businesses, adding U-Haul® products to Sunshine Deli Mart and Gas at 2298 State Road 109 in Hoquiam.

Ham owns two convenience stores, both of which are U-Haul neighborhood dealers.

U-Haul trucks, trailers, towing equipment, pre-tow inspection and rental support items are now available at Sunshine Deli by visiting or calling (360) 940-7045 today.

Sunshine Deli is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. every day, making weekend rentals a breeze.

Ham paired Sunshine Deli with U-Haul to generate extra income for his business, but also to create convenience for his customers.

The biggest challenge for Ham has been speaking English fluently and communicating with his three children, who have been completely immersed in English. Ham said that he is appreciative of the American culture and rejoices that his children are growing up in a capitalistic country defined by freedom and fairness.

U-Haul and Sunshine Deli are striving to benefit the environment through sustainability initiatives. Truck sharing is a core U-Haul sustainability business practice that allows individuals to access a fleet of trucks that is larger than what they could access on an individual basis.

Every U-Haul truck placed in a community helps keep 19 personally owned large-capacity vehicles, pickups, SUVs and vans off the road. Fewer vehicles means less traffic congestion, less pollution, less fuel burned and cleaner air.

Sunshine Deli is a great place to become U-Haul Famous. Take your picture in front of a U-Haul product, send it in and your face could land on the side of a U-Haul truck. Upload your photo through Instagram using #uhaulfamous, or go to to submit photos and learn more.
