Administrators at Hoquiam High School are warning parents of chicken pox after a couple of students contracted the viral infection. A letter to parents said that most students are vaccinated but because a single vaccination is only 80-85% effective, some cases do occur. Principle Brock Maxfield noted that the county health department strongly recommends you get your children vaccinated, and update those vaccinations with your health care provider.
Symptoms of chickenpox include an itchy rash with small, fluid-filled blisters, fever, loss of appetite, headaches, and tiredness.
If you see symptoms contact your health care provider.
