Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. – Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. (GGHI) is pleased to present the September Business of the Month award to Sierra Pacific Industries. On September 12, 2018 the GGHI Ambassador Team presented Sierra Pacific Industries, located in Aberdeen at 301 Junction City Road, with the honor.
To Sierra Pacific Industries, sustainable forest management means more than just planting trees. This family-owned, third generation forest products company is based in Anderson, California. However, the company continues to grow each year and now owns and manages nearly 1.9 million acres of timberland in both California and Washington State. This company is among the largest lumber producers in the United States and is committed to managing its lands in a responsible and sustainable manner. The state-of-the-art sawmill in Aberdeen and other mills operated by Sierra Pacific Industries work with various types of trees to create products ranging from framing materials, heavy timbers, and by-products such as deco bark, to biomass for energy production and wood chips for paper.
Not only is Sierra Pacific Industries committed to responsibly managing its lands, but they also give back to the many communities that they are a part of. The Grays Harbor branch of the company has been in operation for 17 years, and throughout those years has donated their time to many non-profits including: United Way, Relay for Life, YMCA of Grays Harbor, Homeless Teen Backpacks, Aberdeen/Hoquiam Fire Departments and Founders Day, to name a few.
GGHI would like to congratulate Sierra Pacific Industries on their commitment to Grays Harbor and the millions of acres of forest land that they manage in the U.S. Learn more about Sierra Pacific Industries by visiting their website at spi-ind.com.
