Grays Harbor Fire Protection District #5 will be holding a public education question and answer meeting to discuss the upcoming Emergency Medical Services (EMS) funding levy proposition 1 on the November 8th ballot. The meeting will be held on October 19th, 2016 starting at 6:00pm in the Summit Pacific Medical Center Kelsey Conference Room, located at 600 E. Main St. in Elma WA.

If approved the 6-year EMS Levy rate would be for 50 cents or less per $1,000 of assessed valuation and start to be collected in 2017. This funding would help establish an Ambulance Transport Membership Program for each and every citizen of District 5 with health insurance.

This program allows the District to accept what their health insurance pays for transports provided by the Fire District to the hospital as payment in full.  Where currently a bill is sent to people for the portion that this not paid by their insurance. This amount is approximately $157.00 to $748.00 or more depending on transport location.

Some communities already are doing this; such as City of Aberdeen and Graham Fire District. In addition, the funds would help purchase much-needed equipment such as replacement of the current outdated gurneys and heart monitors, along with supplies used to treat patients and help with on-duty staffing needs.

We encourage and hope to see anyone that has questions or wants to get more information on the request at the meeting.
