The Association of Washington Public Hospital Districts (AWPHD) has named Tom Jensen, CEO of Grays Harbor Community Hospital (GHCH), Board Chair for the year 2020. The AWPHD serves as the trade association for Washington State’s 62 hospital districts. Jensen was elected by his peers and has previously served as Treasurer and Vice-Chair of the organization.

Since joining GHCH in 2010, Jensen has led the hospital through a series of challenges and triumphs. His constant efforts to maintain viability through forming a Public Hospital District, passing a Law to increase the hospital reimbursement, developing cost-based Rural Health Clinics as well as a State Budget Proviso, while continuing to provide excellent care, has kept GHCH accessible to the citizens of Grays Harbor County. Under his leadership, new services have been brought to the Harbor including 3D Mammography with Smart Curve and Cardiac Care, two resources in which community members had to leave the area to receive.

“Having Tom involved in the lobbying and direction for Public Hospitals statewide is tremendous for our organization,” said Michael Bruce, Board Chair PHD#2. “His dedication to health excellence is indisputable and he is highly regarded amongst his peers from around Washington.”

As the hospital looks to the future, GHCH will continue to recruit outstanding health care providers to the area and will strive to open a Prompt Care Clinic providing another outlet for patients to obtain care while keeping the Emergency Room available for those who require a higher level of care.
