Five people are confirmed dead at a residence in the 300 block of Horseshoe Drive outside of Belfair. Mason County Sheriff’s Deputies initially received a call from a man shortly before 9:00 AM reporting he had shot 4 people. The man walked outside the residence and shot himself after a 3 ½ hour stand-off with authorities from multiple police agencies.
Sheriff Salisbury said,” This is a tragic day for everyone.”
When deputies initially responded, they encountered a man barricaded in the residence. The Mason County Regional SWAT team was requested to respond. An MCSO deputy sergeant communicated with the man by phone over the course of 3+ hours.
A teenaged girl was transported by ambulance from the scene during the incident.
Multiple agencies remain on scene to continue the investigation.
