Facebook Comments Disclaimer

We encourage thoughtful discussion, debate and differing viewpoints with the understanding that all comments on our page must be civil, respectful, and appropriate for our audience. That audience includes adults and children. The Facebook filter will auto-hide common cusswords, attempts to otherwise offend through “bad words” will result in the loss of comment priveledges on our page.

Most-importantly please be aware that comments on our Facebook page, while sometimes helpful to the topic, are not verified news from our news department. News Director Dave Haviland fact-checks his news and information before it’s posted to our website or to our Facebook page. Please do not rely on the comments section for acurate information about our stories, while we try to post updates in the comments, we always update the story as well.

When leaving comments, we encourage you to remain on topic, and to be mindful that your comments are public and are publicly attached to your Facebook profiles. Dave will find your grandmother and show her your Facebook profile if you are a big enough jerk. Also, its preferable not to post comments in ALL CAPS to get your point across, as this can be interpreted as shouting.

We will not tolerate lewd, offensive, libelous, demeaning, or otherwise hurtful or hateful speech directed towards individuals or groups. Name calling and threats of violence – even theoretical – aimed at those with whom you disagree are inappropriate and are not conducive to a civil debate. We understand that you have implicit biases, and we’re not here to debate your beleifs with you about your world view. We are here to inform. We reserve the right – but assume no obligation – to delete such comments, and report offenders as appropriate.

Mere disagreements with a particular article, positing, or with users will NOT in and of itself be ground’s for a comment’s removal.

We do not permit messages selling products, promoting other pages, sites, or agencies. We will delete such messages and remove commenting privledges.

Comments are also subject to Facebook’s Terms of Use and Code of Conduct.
Upon request of individuals named in comments, some comments may also be removed.
