Escaped-inmate James Bartholomew is back in the Grays Harbor County Jail, held on a combined $3-million bail for existing drug and firearms charges. Bartholomew was booked at 12:35 AM on Friday morning, after being transferred to the jail from another agency.

The 40-year-old escaped from the county jail in Montesano on June 26th, after a fellow trustee literally took him out with the trash. The sheriff’s office said when Bartholomew escaped that he was preparing to agree to a plea deal on a drug and a weapons offense and was facing a lengthy prison sentence. After almost a month on the lamb, he adds various charges including escape to that list of charges.

Undersheriff Brad Johansson with the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office said that yesterday Tumwater Police saw a woman acting suspiciously in the Motel 6 parking lot. As they approached she walked away, but inside the vehicle where she was standing, they found Bartholomew hiding under a blanket. Bartholomew was arrested on his escape warrant, police also found suspected heroin and methamphetamine were he was hiding.
