Maintenance crews for the Washington State Department of Transportation will temporarily close the Elma Safety Rest Area off eastbound State Route 8 in Grays Harbor County for routine maintenance and repairs over two days next week.

From 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, crews will close the site’s restrooms and grounds to complete several maintenance projects, including removing hazard trees and conducting septic tank and water line repairs. The nearest rest area is the Scatter Creek Rest Area off northbound Interstate 5 north of Centralia.

WSDOT operates Safety Rest Areas across the state to give travelers a place to take a break before continuing their journey.
