Elma Police are warning the public after an ATM skimmer was found at a local bank branch. A press release from Police Chief Susan Shultz said that bank surveillance footage from June 1st shows two men in a rented car attach a skimming device over the card reader around 7 PM last Friday at the Elma Anchor Bank, on 3rd Street.
One of the men was seen again the following morning changing out the device for another. Shultz said that some of those credit card numbers were used in the Lacey area at two separate banks.
Anchor Bank is in the process of notifying all customers that may have been affected by this crime.
The vehicle is a gray 2018 Hyundai Tucson with license plate number BJK5028. Shultz said it was rented from Seatac Airport on May 17th and due back May 31st but was not returned.
If seen please call 911 or the Elma Police Department 360-482-3131.
Preotect yourself at any ATM by double-checking that the devices are securely attached, there are no mirrors or cameras nearby, and that no one is watching you.
