The Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office is commending some residents for calling in what they believed to be suspicious activity on the Monte-Elma road Friday morning.
Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate said they received a suspicious person complaint in the 300 block around 7:40 Friday morning. Callers said a man was walking along the roadway wearing a white Islamic-type robe. Reports continued throughout the morning as the man walked into Montesano. Shumate said Officers are familiar with this man, an 18-year-old who lives in the immediate area, east of the city limits of Montesano. He was again contacted this morning by Law Enforcement, however, this individual was not committing any crimes.
Shumate added “It is understandable with the recent state of affairs that citizens were concerned with what they observed. We appreciate our citizens using due care and caution and reporting what they believed to be suspicious activity.”
