An Eagle Scout project in Hoquiam will provide a new concession stand at the High School’s Sea Breeze Oval just in time for the upcoming soccer season. Eagle Scout Candidate Caspin Darrin says the Grizzly Boosters funded the new stand “They were looking to get a concession stand built so they came to Rick Strom first to see if one of the boy scouts wanted to build it [for their project] they asked me and I agreed to do it.”
Working at it since this summer, Darrin said they had to pour the foundation, frame the building, and install a metal roof. They are in the process of adding metal siding and pouring a concrete walk path near the pole barn.
With donations from Levee Lumber, and Bayview Redi-mix, among other local businesses, Darrin said he’s had a lot of help from family and Boy Scout Troop 100 in Hoquiam. They’ll be installing siding over the weekend, and hope to have the plumbing and electrical work done in time for soccer.
