A fire in the dunes of Pacific County burned nearly 15 acres of dune grass on Saturday. The Pacific County Fire District #1 posted photos on their facebook page, with thanks to nearby residents of Surfside for providing water to their trucks and firefighters.

The fire was reported just after noon Saturday, flames were reportedly moving very fast and threatening several houses. Firefighters responded quickly, calling in resources from other agencies.

The fire burned approximately 15 acres of dune grass. All of the houses were saved, although at least one has damage from the fire. Warm temperatures, dry fuels, and brisk winds all contributed to the fire spread.
