A local volunteer and community activist was arrested Friday on investigation of Child Molestation in the First Degree, and Rape of a Child in the Second Degree. Further details are expected later this morning from the Aberdeen Police Department, 48 year old Gregory Johnson remains in Grays Harbor County custody with no bail set.
Johnson’s group of volunteers, named the Gregorian Group after Gregory himself, was originally in the South Shore mall then moved to the Aberdeen Eagles building for a while. In both locations they offered information on local organizations and events.
Aberdeen Police Captain John Green said Monday morning “On 10/31/2014 at 2:40 P.M. Detectives from the Aberdeen Police Department arrested 48 year old Aberdeen resident, Gregory Johnson at his office in the 100 block of West Market St. on the charge of Rape of a Child in the First Degree. Mr. Johnson was booked into the City of Aberdeen jail without incident. He was later transferred to the Grays Harbor County Jail.”
Aberdeen Police tell KBKW the arrest was made after an investigation was opened 3 weeks ago due to a complaint the Aberdeen Police Department received from a 23 year old female Elma resident.
The investigation is open and continuing.
