The City of Ocean Shores in conjunction with Rognlin’s Inc. has been conducting pavement repairs throughout the City since October 1, 2018.  The purpose of the work is to address various pavement failures at 25 sites located throughout the City.  As of October 11, a total of 13 sites have been repaired.  The majority of the failures are a result of wood debris in the subgrade.  The largest tree section found to date measured approximately 45-feet in length.  The majority of the repair work has been conducted with minimal impact to traveling motorists, as each site has typically resulted in closures of 4 hours or less.

One site, in particular, is anticipated to impact motorists more than the others.  To minimize the risk to public safety, the City has scheduled a short-term closure of Canal Drive between Ocean Lake Way and Mount Olympus Avenue on Saturday, October 20, 2018.  The closure is planned to start at 7:00 AM and is planned to end at 3:00 PM.  As a result of this closure, motorists will need to use Mount Olympus Avenue, Discovery Avenue, and Pt. Brown Avenue to bypass the work zone.

It is important to note that paving activities are tentatively scheduled for the week of October 22, 2018, which will result in additional minor impacts at all of the repair locations.  Given the weather-dependent nature of paving, the schedule may need to be adjusted to accommodate the weather.
