Candidate filing week finished Friday afternoon with a total of 14 filing for the commission of the proposed hospital district. Elections Supervisor Katy Moore tells us the proposed district is not in their system yet so the information is not available on the auditor’s website yet.
We’ll see a couple of races in the August Primary so far, Congressman Derek Kilmer will face 3 others for his re-election. Also facing more than one other are incumbent State Representatives Brian Blake, and Steve Tharinger
County Assessor Rick Hole, and PUD Commissioner Russ Skolrood each face two others for their re-election
County Commissioner Herb Welch is not seeking re-election, we have 4 political parties vying for his District 3 seat with Democrat Al Smith, Republican Keith Olson, Independant Jim Heikel and Vickie Raines of the no party party.
The November General election will finally pick a County Prosecutor for Grays Harbor, between Katie Svoboda and Mike Spencer.
Incumbent State Representatives Dean Takko faces one other for his seat, while Representative Kevin Van De Wege is unapposed.
Sheriff Rick Scott, Auditor Vern Spatz, Clerk Cheryl Brown and Treasurer Ron Strabbing have filed to seek re-election, unapposed. With County Coroner Dan Burns retiring, Deputy Coroner Lane Youmans is running unapposed.
