A joke about a bomb at Miller Junior High School prompted investigation and letters to parents this week. Principal Lisa Griebel said that during the 8th grade lunch period a student in the library shouted “There is a bomb in the building.” then ran out of the library.

The school and Aberdeen Police investigated and determined the incident was meant to be a joke. Griebel urged parents to talk with their children in the letter and stressed that it was taken very seriously and that comments such as these can be considered a crime.
