The body of a woman was found among the rubble of a fire in Ocean Shores early Saturday morning. Sargeant David McManus with the Ocean Shores Police Department said that a trailer and two outbuildings on the property, as well as a shed on a neighboring property, were destroyed. McManus added, “A couple of neighboring trailers were also damaged by the heat of the fire.”

The 5th wheel trailer and an attached building in the 100 block of Victoria Loop Northeast were fully-involved when firefighters with the Ocean Shores Fire Department arrived just before 1 am Saturday morning. A source at the department said that crews had cleared the fire before the body was discovered by an OSPD police officer who was working to secure the scene.

McManus said the body recovered is believed to be that of the 70-year-old Ocean Shores woman who lived on the property. He said that investigators have talked with the woman’s next of kin. It appeared that she was living in one of the outbuildings next to the trailer.

Investigators were still on scene well into this afternoon. McManus said that a point of origin, or possible cause of the fire, remains under investigation. He added, “The Ocean Shore Fire Inspector is leading the investigation and he’s being assisted by investigators from Hoquiam and the Sheriff’s Office.”
