The body of the hunter recovered from the Canyon river on October 21st has been identified as 61-year-old Steven Davis, of Mammoth Lakes California. Grays Harbor County Coroner Lane Youmans said that an autopsy was conducted this morning, and the cause of death was due to drowning.

Grays Harbor County Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate said that the body of Davis was recovered Saturday morning. Several deputies, Department of Fish and Wildlife officers, and aid personnel responded to the area about 15 miles north of Brady Friday morning. The man had been hunting with several other members who were crossing the river using a zip line when he fell into the river.

Searchers located and secured his body down river Friday evening but due to the remote location and hours of darkness, Shumate said they delayed their efforts and were able to recover the body Saturday morning.
