Unsafe passing was the cause of an accident North of Naselle that sent three people to the hospital yesterday afternoon. The Washington State Patrol reports a 2015 Volkswagon Passat had slowed to turn at Nemah road on Southbound 101, when a 2005 Ford Taurus attempted to pass multiple vehicles at a time and collided with the vehicle in the Northbound lane. The only occupant of the Taurus; a 37-year-old South Bend woman, the driver of the Passat; a 32 year old New York man, and a 58-year-old female passenger were all transported to Willapa Harbor Hospital with undisclosed injuries. A 36-year-old woman and two children in the Passat were uninjured. Trooper B. Chicks reported Unsafe Passing as the cause and said Negligent Driving charges were pending.
