A 31-year-old Belfair man is being held on multiple charges following a pursuit on Lynch Road reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour.
A Deputy with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a silver Dodge Durango last Thursday, August 18th, at 3:30pm after noticing the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. This vehicle was also earlier reported to have been involved in a case involving a missing/endangered 14-year-old girl out of Kitsap County.
The driver, Rickie Wright, attempted to elude the deputy, driving in and out of driveways and yards and a parking lot at Arcadia Point. The pursuit was terminated when Wright began swerving into oncoming traffic.
The deputy continued to search the area for the suspect vehicle and was waved down by a citizen who pointed to where the vehicle had crashed off the road into a tree near Allen Road.
Multiple detectives and deputies responded to the area to search for the suspect and located him being held at gunpoint by a homeowner on Lynch Lane.
Sheriff Casey Salisbury said, “We are grateful to our many responsible, quick-thinking citizens for helping us to apprehend this individual who chose to endanger so many lives.”
The missing/endangered teen girl was recovered in the area by an MCSO deputy prior to the pursuit and reunited with her mother.
Rickie Wright is being held in the Mason County Jail.
